Valentine’s Day
Don’t Forfeit Your Heart This Valentine’s Day

Hook up with The People’s Movement this Valentine’s Day and make use of the lighter nights and warmer weather by giving your physical activity levels a boost.

Sheffield’s physical activity campaign, is urging people to go outside and start their healthier lifestyles today; exercise such as walking, running, cycling or playing an outdoor sport are enjoyable and help to increase fitness levels.

So why not love yourself on Valentine’s Day - the benefits of physical activity are endless! There are both health and personal benefits including:

  • Improved fitness
  • Stronger muscles and bones
  • Reduced risk factors of preventable diseases such as Type II diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and stroke, and some forms of cancer
  • Better sleep patterns
  • More energy
  • Improved self esteem which can lead to healthier and happier personal relationships

Other hints and tips to ensuring your physical activity journey is successful are highlighted on The People’s Movement website - www.thepeoplesmovement.co.uk.

Councillor Mike Pye, Cabinet Advisor for Culture at Sheffield City Council, said: “Increasing your fitness level is important to your health and also to your lifestyle. On The People’s Movement website there is a lot of information about the benefits of keeping healthy, but the campaign also recognises that people find it difficult to start exercising, and therefore offers tips on how to start and also places where you can start taking more exercise.”
