The People’s Movement, Sheffield’s physical activity campaign
is celebrating, after wannabe ghouls, ghosts, and spooks joined in a recording-breaking
dance attempt at Fright Night on Sunday 29th October.
Hundreds of people took part in the biggest-ever Time Warp, the world
famous dance from the Rocky Horror Picture Show, at Barkers Pool in front
of City Hall. The Hype Dance Company also performed a spooky routine
to get people moving and in the mood.
The People’s Movement campaign aims to show that dancing is a great
form of activity, as it is fun, free, and can be done in the home, or
with family and friends at a special event in the city centre like Fright
Night!
Paul Billington, spokesperson for the People’s Movement, said:
“The Time Warp is a dance that can be done by people of all ages,
so we were delighted to see so many people at Fright Night joining in
the fun.
“We hope to have set a new dance record in Sheffield, and show
that moving your body, whether dancing, cycling or even vacuuming the
house, can make you feel great, and contribute towards people’s
health and well-being.”
Fright Night is Britain’s biggest Halloween party, and took place
at locations across Sheffield City Centre on Sunday 29th October, 3.30pm
– 8.30pm. Activities on the night included a spooky street theatre,
fancy-dress catwalk, fire walking, a funfair, and the Time Warp dance.
